Pranayama Exercise & Pranayama Practice

The first and most important point for practicing Pranayama – one has to be the complete knowledge about the process, methods, functions and requirements of Pranayama form any yoga practitioner. Practice of Pranayama under the guidance of expert yoga professional is the basic ingredient. Without such guidance and support, practicing Pranayama will not provide any benefit or advantage, because in Pranayama the entire concept is on regulation of breathing which has to be taught by some one who is an expert in Pranayama.

Secondly, the place chosen to perform Pranayama must be very clean, peaceful, ventilated and also free from dust and moisture.

Thirdly, performing Pranayama in the early morning, preferably before sunrise is the ideal time. Those who find it difficult to perform Pranayama in the morning, can practice in the evening also.

Fourthly, Pranayama can be done either in Padmasana, Vajrasana, and Siddhasana or in Sukhasana Posture. Out of these the convenient posture has to be opted first. While précising Pranayama eyes must be closed and breathing should be normal. Ensure the entire body is relaxed and at peace.

Fifthly, the most important factor while performing pranayama is tot maintain concentration and mental peace. Here the practitioner has to control the breathing system in order to harness benefits of Pranayama.

Sixthly, Pranayama can be performed after three to four hours gap after taking the food. Better to avoid “shitakari” and “Sitali” Pranayama, during winter season and “Surya Bhedhana” Pranayama during summer.

Advantages of Pranayama

In Pranayama, the systematic system of breathing is gained. The systematic breathing function gives complete physical and mental relaxation to the human body.

The healthy and systematic breathing tones up the respiratory function of the body, and all the disorders in stomach, pancreas, liver and kidney.

Pranayama is most effective for digestion and other digestive disorders. In the process of Pranayama the digestive organs, more particularly diaphragm and abdominal muscles are toned up which helps to cure disorders in stomach, pancreas, liver and kidney.
