World Hygienic Standard:
The International Consumer Hygiene Survey, 2008, polled 1,000 consumers across 10 countries. It found:
- Over half (51%) believe washing hands regularly is the most effective way to protect against flu. The statistics for India was 45%.
- In India, one-third use antibacterial soap, 44% use regular soap and 11% use just running water.
- More than half (53%) the respondents wash hands for less than 10 seconds. In India, nearly 27% wash their hands for a full minute after using the toilet.
- Only 3 in 5 people (59%) claim that their children always wash hands before eating.
- Only 3 in 5 people (59%) claim that their children always wash hands before eating.
- Over 68% worldwide do not use and antibacterial or disinfectant kitchen cleaner to clean kitchen surfaces.
